A Message From Our Executive Director

President's Message
Marty Strange, Joe Boyd, and Deb Jones - First Light Studios

We are so glad you’re visiting our website. We hope you take a few minutes (or more!) to visit our member directory and to see what our eleven towns have to offer.

Our region is located in the geographic center of the state. As such, many people stop here on their way to someplace else and are pleasantly surprised by the scenic vistas, the warm greetings and unique shopping, lodging, and dining experiences. We are not a traditional tourist destination. We do, however, offer the opportunity to be part of the charm of rural Vermont with the benefits of a more populated area, e.g., Gifford Medical Center, Vermont Technical College, and the Chandler Center for the Arts. We look out for each other, we work hard, and we value our families, our friendships, our community, and our jobs. With the exception of a brief annual mud season, we’re glad to live and work here.

The Chamber works to promote our member businesses, institutions, and individuals by highlighting these values in the context of a region. We have a mixture of manufacturing, health care facilities and providers, educational institutions, cultural venues, along with retail businesses and service industries. Furthermore, we have an agricultural base making a steady move toward sustainable practices and cooperation. You’ll find that our fairs and festivals celebrate these values, too.

How does a Chamber help to promote a region? We spread the word by our website, our e-newsletters, our area guide, our Facebook page, our annual Fourth of July Herald Supplement, and our Holiday Shopping Card Promotion. We also partner with other area organizations to increase our members’ presence in the community. We answer the questions of visitors and residents by phone, email, and in person. We manage the kiosk at Exit 4. And we organize events and programs. For example, we organize the Randolph Fourth of July Parade and Celebration, the Fall Classic Golf Tournament, the Randolph Technical Career Center Scholarship Bowling Tournament, the Legislative Breakfast Series, an Annual Dinner and Meeting, the Candidates Forum, After Hours Mixers, and the Business Builder Box Lunches.

Chambers are often involved in the economic development of a particular area; our Chamber is involved in developing the economic health of our region on multiple levels. We see a need to make the present and future work for not just us, but for our children and their children. Please read our Initiatives webpage to see our current biennial focus. To that end we’re always interested in hearing what people have to say – like you! Your feedback, ideas, and suggestions are welcome. Give us a call, email, or shout!
