Brookfield, Vermont, established in 1781 by Vermont charter, is a town in Orange County. As of the 2000 census, it had an approximate population of 1,222. A notable attraction in Brookfield is its floating bridge, originally built in 1820, which spans Sunset Lake and is supported by pontoons.
