Annual Holiday Shopping Card Promotion a Big Success
It didn’t look like a typical Vermont holiday season for much of December, but the warm weather and green grass didn’t deter more than 2,400 people from shopping locally and turning in completed shopping cards this year. The Holiday Shopping Card Promotion is sponsored by the Randolph Area Chamber of Commerce. This year, more than 7000 cards were distributed to 35 participating merchants in Bethel, Royalton, and Randolph.
“The promotion was extremely well received,” said the Chamber’s Executive Director Ben Merrill, “and the shoppers turned out in record numbers. I got lots of last minute calls, right down to the day before Christmas, from merchants saying they needed more cards because shoppers were still asking for them. Next year we hope to expand the number of participating merchants into more of our member towns.”

This year’s Grand Prize sponsors were Belmains, which offered a $100 gift certificate; Massage Professionals of Randolph, which offered a 90-minute massage; Royal Towne Gifts, which offered a quilt valued at over $100; South End Auto, which offered a $100 gift certificate; Aubuchon Hardware, which offered a $100 gift certificate; and Route 66 Garden Center, which also offered a $100 gift certificate.
All of the other participating merchants sponsored a $25 gift certificate to be won as one of the 35 weekly prizes.
