Shopping Card Grand Prize and Bonus Prize Winners Announced

Approximately 6300 cards were distributed this holiday season with 2002 completed cards turned in for drawings over the four weeks of the promotion. Of those cards, several hundred were eligible for the bonus drawing. In 2008 the total number of completed holiday shopping cards turned in was 1238. “I knew the promotion was helping our local merchants when we had to ask Spaulding Press to print 1500 more cards to meet demand. The extra drop off locations were helpful to shoppers, too,” noted Deb Jones, Executive Director.

There were four grand prize winners this year. Erica Terwilliger’s father, Earl, entered her name, which was the first name drawn, entitling her and her family to the overstuffed gift basket provided by Chef’s Market (aka the Randolph Farm Stand). The second grand prize, won by Liz Kinney of Randolph, was a Cannon Scanner provided by Vermont Computing Inc. Justin Tabor of Bethel was the winner of the gift certificate for a two hour hot stone massage session provided by the Massage Professionals of Randolph, and Crystal Whitaker of Stockbridge won the fourth grand prize from The Brick Store in cooperation with Cover to Cover of a reading lamp and tea pot complete with mug and embroidered linens along with Peter Miller’s book Vermont Farm Women. East Randolph’s Connie Button was the recipient of this year’s Bonus Prize. She had checked off the box that allows participating merchants to contact her for future promotions and in so doing was eligible for the prize provided by Dandelion Acres of a certificate for four fruit trees, redeemable when the weather is more friendly for such planting. “We found shoppers more purposeful in choosing to shop locally this year and less interested in fighting the crowds and traffic associated with shopping at groups of box stores. We’re grateful for the support of the community for this promotion,” said Jones.

Merchants, sponsors, and shoppers interested in giving the Chamber feedback on this year’s promotion and ideas for next year’s promotion should contact Deb Jones at director@randolph-chamber.com or call the Chamber at 728-9027, M-F from 9-1.
