Industry: The Randolph area is home to businesses in the textiles, plastics, machine tools, medical supplies, energy products, military technology, and internet industries. It is the home to the Vermont Tech Enterprise Center, a business incubator established in 2004.
Easy Access: Randolph is in the geographic center of the state with interstate and rail access. Exit 4 off I-89 midway between Montpelier and the intersection of I-89 and I-91 in White River Junction, Vermont. Vermont's largest city, Burlington, is just one hour to the north and home to the user-friendly Burlington International Airport. Air connections can also be made in Lebanon, NH (30 minutes). Amtrak's Vermonter stops in Randolph daily with connections from Montreal to Washington D.C. Stagecoach Transportation Services, Inc. (STSI) provides transportation services to the elderly, persons with disabilities, and general public services across a 30 town area of northern Windsor and Orange Counties.
Education: The Randolph area offers a progressive public school system (K-12) and a private middle school and high school at The Sharon Academy in Sharon, VT. The area offers two post-secondary colleges. Vermont Technical College, located in Randolph Center, offers over 20 associate and bachelor degree programs in technical and related fields. The Vermont Law School specializes in Environmental Law and is located in South Royalton, Vermont. Central Vermont Adult Basic Education has an office on South Main Street in Randolph. The Randolph Technical Career Center provides a number of quality programs for high school technical trade education.
Cultural Facilities: The Randolph area has long been known to have some cultural gems. Randolph's Chandler Center for the Arts hosts the New World Festival, the Mud Season Talent Show, and the Central Vermont Chamber Music Festival as well as an annual line-up of guest artists. Other large fairs and festivals in the area include the Fiddlehead Festival held in Randolph in the spring, the Tunbridge World Fair held in mid-September and the Vermont History Expo held in late June, the latter two held at the Tunbridge fairgrounds. The Randolph area also has many fine libraries, including the Kimball Public Library in Randolph. The Randolph Area Chamber of Commerce hosts the Fourth of July Parade and Celebration in downtown Randolph.
Health Care: Gifford Medical Center in Randolph, Vermont, is a community medical center with family health centers in Bethel, Chelsea, Rochester and Sharon and specialty clinics throughout the area. Gifford is a full-service hospital with a 24-hour emergency department and an inpatient unit, Howell Pavilion. Gifford has a 30-bed nursing home, the Menig Extended Care Facility, which opened in 1998 on the main campus. The Birthing Center, established in 1977, was the first in Vermont to offer an alternative to the traditional hospital-based deliveries and continues to be a leader in low-intervention midwifery and family-centered care today.
Recreation: The Randolph area offers an 18-hole golf course at the Montague Golf Club just outside of the downtown area. The area features public swimming pools, tennis courts, cross-country ski and mountain biking trails, snowshoeing, snowmobiling, and hiking. The Randolph area is centrally located to many ski areas including those located in the Killington, Stowe, Mad River, and Woodstock areas.
Media: The award winning Herald is a local weekly newspaper providing an in-depth level of news pertaining to the greater Randolph area. Two local radio stations meet a range of listener's preferences with WCVR FM 102.1, a classic rock station, and WTSJ AM 1320 with news, talk, and sports.
Social Services: Randolph offers help for those in need through the services of the Clara Martin Center, Upper Valley Services, White River Valley Ambulance Service, Randolph Senior Center, and many local churches and food shelves.
